A key thrust of our NOMAD Youth Worker and Connexions PA role is to help support young people who are in or at risk of being in NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). We aim to move them into EET.
This involves supporting YP in writing CV’s, motivational/interview techniques, liasing with employers and providing initial support and linking into appropriate training.
Many of the parents of the YP we work with find themselves in similar positions with regard to employment. NOMAD can provide a similar service to them.
LIFT (Linking in For Training)
post 16/Adult Education Programme:
NOMAD is seeking to develop this programme to support this group of people. Many of them will have had negative experiences of education themselves and supporting parents/adults in this way can improve the outlook for their children.
NOMAD looks to link in with other training providers for IT skills, literacy and numeracy skills, money management and budgeting, interview skills and writing CV’s, cooking, health and hygiene etc.
