Governance

The Nomad Trustees and Advisory Board:

This group acts as the governing body for the Nomad project, providing accountability, expertise and ensuring that charity rules are complied with. The Trustees meet approximately three/four times a year as do the Nomad Advisory Board and smaller Advisory Groups. Membership is made up from a wide cross section of the local community.

Roger Cole (Chair of Trustees)

Pastor of Henley Baptist Church and has been chair of the Nomad Trustees and Advisory Board since arriving in Henley in 2003. In his role as chair he is also an ex officio member of all the Advisory Groups and plays an active part in supporting staff and the work of Nomad. Sits on all of the advisory groups.

Sue Prior (Project Manager & Chair of the Rainbow Children’s Centre Advisory Group)

Attends all the advisory groups and acts as a link between the advisory board and staff.

Funding and Finance Advisory Group:

Mark Sayers (Trustee & Chair of the Funding and Finance Advisory Group)

As a business man and resident in Henley with his family, has had involvement with Nomad since 1996.

Oliver Makower (Trustee)

The Chair of Trustees of Thamesfield Youth Association which provided Nomad with its charitable status in the early years. Oliver is still keenly involved and brings a wealth of experience of working in the voluntary sector.

David Bandey

Joined the Board back in 2006 and as a local business man has been able to support in various ways. His experience in running a business is welcome.

Clive Wilkinson

The Chair of the Henley Youth Centre Committee and also a local businessman. Clive helps reinforce our good links with Henley Youth centre.

Human Resources Advisory Group:

Duncan Carter (Trustee)

Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Henley for many years and has also been keenly involved with Nomad since the early 2000’s.

Pam Phillips

Has also been associated with Nomad since it started in 1996 originally as a Town Councillor and now as a resident of Henley. She brings her knowledge and skills of life coaching to bear.

Richard Wright

Joined the Advisory Board in 2009. He is a retired business man with experience in handling Human Resources for a large company and brings that expertise to us.

Youth & Families Advisory Group:

Barry Wood

A Town Councillor and acts as the Town Council Representative for Nomad. He has been involved with Nomad since the early 2000’s. He is also Schools Inspector specialising in Safeguarding and Health & Safety.

Elsa Torres

Deputy Head at Gillotts School and has been a part of the Advisory Board since 2008. She is extremely supportive of the work particularly with young people and families and has provided increasing opportunities to develop services within school to both students and parents.

Vicky Sims

A local Police Officer with the Thames Valley Police. She is very keen to prevent children and young people from offending and sits in this group with that in mind.

Steve Curren

The Henley based County Youth Worker and runs youth services from the Youth Centre in Henley.

Mike Ray

Manager of the YMCA in Henley and joined the board in 2010. Has a background in Human Resources.

Rainbow Children’s Centre Advisory Groups – Henley & Sonning Common:

Mel Carruthers

Head Teacher of Badgemore Community Primary School in Henley joined the Advisory Board during 2009 with a special interest in the Children’s Centre Services.

The Children’s Centre Advisory Groups are attended by a wide cross section of interested parties including, Head Teachers from local schools, Health Visitors and GP’s, representatives from child and adolescent metal health services, Oxfordshire County Council Representatives, local housing providers, parent representation and other preschool service providers etc.

Company Secretary & Treasurer:

Dave Prior

Provides support to the trustees and handles the Nomad accounts and budgets.
