NOMAD Newsletter February 2008

The last 12 months have seen a number of significant changes for Nomad.  Since our last news letter we have seen one staff member leave and three new members join.

Fran Mattingley trained as a Social Worker and joined the staff in July as our new Children and Families Worker.  Fran has already made a considerable difference in that area, building with our existing family contacts and making new ones.

Realising that our work was developing at a considerable pace we felt it appropriate to take on a second male youth worker and in September Matthew Bunkall joined the team.  His role as a detached youth worker and Schools Youth Worker enables him to support young people in education and out in the community.

After seven and a half years, Jamie Macfarlane our Nomad Youth Worker and Connexions PA decided it was time to move on.  He left the project at the end of August leaving behind him a legacy of strong relationships with many young people and a raft of activities that he had used to engage positively with these youngsters.

After a manic few months of trying to fill the gap that Jamie left, Tim Prior took over his role from January 1st this year.  He is already making steady inroads into the work and establishing his own contacts.

Major staff changes have inevitably impacted on the project and we are ‘gelling’ well as a team and seeing individual workers begin to make their mark.

The following is a copy of a report prepared for the Henley Town Council which is a clear and concise summary of our work during this period.

We look forward to more exciting opportunities in 2008 to make a difference to children, young people and families in Henley and district.
